Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian will make a cameo in the second half of the fifth season of AMC's zombie apocalypse drama "The Walking Dead."
Ian is sharing a behind the scenes preview of the production in the latest episode of his horror FX show for Nerdist, "Scott Ian's Bloodworks" (formerly "Blood & Guts").
“Hey, it’s 5:15 or something in the morning here in Atlanta and we’re on the set of The Walking Dead,” begins the guitarist. “I just got out of makeup. I’m ready to go bite some people right after I have some coffee.”
"I had to actually audition my zombie walk in front of two of the zombie pros," he added. “They wanted to make sure I wasn’t all like (mimics zombie walk) ‘Ahhhh, brains!!’ They had to make sure I wasn’t going to be all like that.”
Ian previously appeared in a Walking Dead webisode in 2011.
“I read the comic," he explains. "I started reading Walking Dead when it came out and then the show came on...I’m a massive fan of the show. I just felt like, from the start, [that] it would be the coolest thing if I could ever get to be a walker. I got to do the webisode thing and that was awesome, and I remember [producer] Greg [Nicotero] telling me at one point that ‘everyone in the business wants to come be a walker, so we kind of put the kibosh on all of that’. I figured that at least I got to the webisodes, that’s cool enough. I didn’t think it would ever happen.”
Ian has just released a new DVD, “Swearing Words In Glasgow.”
The package features Ian recorded live during his “Speaking Words” tour, where the rocker shared stories from his 30-plus year career with the thrash metal band.
