Pink Floyd set pre-order album record
Pink Floyd's forthcoming final release, “The Endless River”, has become the most pre-ordered album of all-time at Amazon UK.
TV3.ie reports the project – due November 10 – has overtaken One Direction, Robbie Williams, Coldplay and David Bowie to set the new record.
“Pink Floyd now have the most pre-ordered album on Amazon.co.uk,” says Steve Bernstein, Director of Amazon EU Digital Music, “which is an outstanding achievement for the band and also it proves that they remain one of the most popular groups to grace the UK music scene. After waiting 20 years, our customers have relished being able to listen to new work by Pink Floyd.”
“The Endless River” features material recorded by David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason during sessions for 1994’s “The Division Bell”, and serves as the band’s tribute to Wright, who died from cancer in 2008 at the age of 65.
The album is billed as a four-sided instrumental release with the lead single, “Louder Than Words”, featuring new lyrics by Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson.
