Pink Floyd are premiering a video for “Louder Than Words”, the lead single from their newly-released album, “The Endless River.”
Directed by Po Powell, the song features lyrics by guitarist David Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson.
“She’s describing the slightly dysfunctional human relationships that we have within Pink Floyd,” said guitarist recently, “and how a lot of the time we don’t communicate that well…we’re not that good at talking to each other. When we play our instruments there’s a communication that speaks louder than words.”
Available November 10 (Nov 11 in North America), the project features material recorded by Gilmour, keyboardist Rick Wright and drummer Nick Mason during sessions for 1994’s “The Division Bell”, and serves as the band’s tribute to Wright, who died from cancer in 2008 at the age of 65.
“The Endless River” recently became the most pre-ordered album of all-time at Amazon UK, overtaking releases by One Direction, Robbie Williams, Coldplay and David Bowie.
“Pink Floyd now have the most pre-ordered album on Amazon.co.uk,” said Steve Bernstein, Director of Amazon EU Digital Music, “which is an outstanding achievement for the band and also it proves that they remain one of the most popular groups to grace the UK music scene. After waiting 20 years, our customers have relished being able to listen to new work by Pink Floyd.”
