Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways lands Top 5 US debut



The Foo Fighters new album, “Sonic Highways”, has debuted at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200.

Billboard reports the band’s 8th album sold 190,000 copies in its opening week to secure second spot behind Taylor Swift’s “1989”, which sold 320,000 units to earn its third consecutive week at No. 1.

The Foo Fighters last release, 2011's “Wasting Light”, was its first No. 1, selling 235,000 copies in its opening week.

Produced by Butch Vig, “Sonic Highways” was recorded in 8 American cities – Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

The Foo Fighters have just announced dates for a summer 2015 North American tour .

The 28-city run – which starts July 4 at Washington’s RFK Stadium – will include two shows at Boston’s Fenway Park and a previously-announced concert at Chicago’s Wrigley Field.
