VIDEO: Heart rock Foo Fighters track as thanks for Letterman performance

Heart are saying thanks to the Foo Fighters for their recent pairing on The Late Show with David Letterman by sharing a backstage performance of the band’s 2005 “In Your Honor” track, "No Way Back."

"We wanted to give something back to them," Ann Wilson tells Rolling Stone. "Just to say thank you. It's the perfect HOOT song and worked well with the esoteric instruments we had around. It's a classic ripper with good melodies, great lyrics and perfect for hair-flipping."

Heart recorded the song backstage in their dressing room on tour in Texas last weekend.

"I chose 'No Way Back' because it's one of the Foos' most kick-ass songs!", says guitarist Nancy Wilson.

The Wilson sisters recently joined the Foos during their week-long residency on Letterman to perform their 1977 classic, “Kick It Out” – watch it here.

"They were like, 'Hey, can you come over and do this thing'?" Ann recalls. "We said, 'Of course,' because they’re our buds. It was a really fun experience. The Foo Fighters are hilarious guys. The way 'Kick It Out' sounded that night was the difference between two guitars and four guitars on stage. It [had] a very kinetic, powerful kick to it and I liked it."

Heart will release “Heart & Friends: Home For The Holidays” on CD/DVD, Blu Ray and digital download on November 10 (Nov. 11 in North America).

The package features a hometown performance by the Seattle band and guests singing holiday classics, personal favorites and some of their own hits.

Sammy Hagar, Richard Marx, Shawn Colvin and Pat Monahan from Train joined Heart for the seasonal concert, which was taped on December 12, 2013 at the Benaroya Symphony Concert Hall in Seattle.
