Sammy Hagar issues Cabo and birthday show update
Sammy Hagar has issued an update on the post-Hurricane Odile situation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico following the recent cancellation of his annual Birthday Bash shows in the resort town.
“Hold tight Redheads - I'm waiting for the dust to settle down in Cabo,” writes Hagar. “The military and government are in charge right now & once the town is a little more stable, I will figure out what to do to help. I want to thank all of you fans for your ideas and willingness to give and the best thing to do is just wait for now. Many of my friends, partners and employees that are in Cabo are doing all they can at the Cantina to help people.”
“In the meantime,” he continues, “I'm working on a place that can handle a gathering on short notice for Redheads who can't be in Cabo. One big bash somewhere - I hate sitting home on my birthday. Thank you and stay tuned.”
Sammy, who will turn 67 on October 13, was scheduled to perform at his Cabo Wabo Cantina on October 7, 9, 11 and 13.
The October shows have become an annual ritual for fans.
“This year marks our 24th anniversary so nothing short of a massive hurricane could have kept me from Cabo,” said Hagar when announcing the cancellation. “But after seeing the damage that Odile’s caused to Los Cabos’ airport, resorts and town, it’s with an incredibly heavy heart that we’ve come to that decision. Our prayers and best wishes are with our Cabo Wabo family and everyone that’s been affected by this storm. Los Cabos will recover better and stronger than before because of its incredibly strong community.”
