Led Zeppelin: John Bonham memorial fundraising event announced

A fundraising event to help raise cash for a memorial in honour of Led Zeppelin drummer Jon Bonham will take place August 2 in Redditch, England.

The Redditch Advertiser reports the show at the town’s St Stephen's Church will feature the late drummer's sister, singer/songwriter Deborah Bonham, who will be playing a special acoustic set.

It has been set up by members of the John Bonham Memorial Fund, whose aim is to raise an initial £50,000 for the design and installation of a fitting permanent memorial in Redditch town centre, the birthplace of the legendary drummer.

Tickets are £10 in advance or £12 on the door with all proceeds going toward a statue of Bonham.

Last month, Led Zeppelin kicked off their reissue series with the release of expanded editions of the band’s first three albums – “Led Zeppelin I”, “Led Zeppelin II” and “Led Zeppelin III” – each with a companion disc of bonus material.

Deluxe editions of the group’s first three albums are the first part of an extensive reissue program that will see all nine of the band’s studio albums reissued in chronological order, each remastered by guitarist/producer Jimmy Page.
