Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page will be honored at the 02 Silver Clef Awards in London next month.
The July 4 event at the London Hilton will see music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins present Page with the 02 Silver Clef Award for his outstanding contribution to UK music.
"A big thank you to Nordoff Robbins and everyone involved in awarding me the Silver Clef Award," said Page.
“Ask anyone ‘Who is the greatest guitar player of all time?’ and it wouldn’t take long before you hear the name Jimmy Page,” adds Emma Banks, Chariman of the Noroff Robbins 02 Silver Clef committee. “Truly a legend, we are deeply honoured that Mr Jimmy Page will join us to receive the O2 Silver Clef Award."
“It's a real honour to have Jimmy Page accept the O2 Silver Clef Award this year,” commented Nuala Donnelly of 02 Sponsorship. “There is no doubt that his support for the charity back in 1990 helped to raise the profile of the outstanding work that Nordoff Robbins do and it is a pleasure to be recognising such a huge talent and bonafide music legend.”
Other artists set to be honored at the 02 Silver Clef Awards include Black Sabbath, Sir Tom Jones, Giorgio Moroder and Pharrell Williams.
Page and Led Zeppelin have just launched the start of their reissues project with the release of expanded editions of “Led Zeppelin I”, “Led Zeppelin II” and “Led Zeppelin III” – each with a companion disc of bonus material.
Deluxe editions of the group’s first three albums are the first part of an extensive reissue program that will see all nine of the band’s studio albums reissued in chronological order, each remastered by Page.
