Def Leppard issue new album update

Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen is sharing an update on the sessions for the band’s new album, their first since 2008’s “Songs From The Sparkle Lounge.”

“I should mention I just got back from a very productive and creative Def Leppard recording session in Dublin,” posted the guitarist. “We got about 15 songs started. What we thought was going to be an ep has now definitely turned into an album of new Def Leppard material for next year.”

“The whole time we were there, the incredible Jeni Cook - raw vegan gourmet chef/guru - put the whole band plus Malvin, Wolfie, and Ronan on a raw vegan food diet (no it's not just lettuce),” Collen continued. “We were treated to some of the tastiest foods I've ever had in my entire life. We still had raw vegan desserts everyday along with raw vegan sushi, pizza, mexican style wraps, and incredible salads. The coolest side effect was that I lost seven pounds while keeping all of my energy and strength up. The band and I were so blown away with it all til we have decided to take this eating style on tour this summer. Our backstage won't be chips, processed and/or fried foods based on what we learned from Jeni. Just so you know, Jeni is the wife of Paul Cook - Manraze/Sex Pistols drummer. Thanks Jeni!”

Def Leppard initially regrouped in February for their first writing session for the project, which yielded a batch of about 12 songs in varying stages of completion.

The band are planning to self-produce the album.

On Monday, the group began rehearsals for their North American tour with KISS, which starts June 23 in West Valley City, Utah.
