The Steve Miller Band is marking the 40th anniversary of its iconic album, “The Joker”, with today’s digital release of “The Joker Live.”
The new album – which features exclusive, unreleased tracks – was recorded on the road last year and is being issued in sync with the start of a North American tour with Journey, which begins tonight in Chula Vista, California.
The original 1973 studio album, “The Joker”, reached No 2 on the US Billboard 200, while the title track hit No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
“When several friends and colleagues reminded me that it was the 40th birthday of The Joker album, I smiled,” said Miller, “and started playing the whole album’s songs live again - and at the end of the last tour realized we had a great new record that we wanted to share with our fans. We hope you like it as much as we did playing and recording it.”
