Slash performs anthem at Los Angeles Kings NHL playoff game

Slash performed the national anthem prior to game 3 of the Los Angeles Kings’ third-round NHL playoff series against the Chcago Blackhawks at the Staples Center on Saturday.

The guitarist has completed recording the follow-up to 2012’s “Apocalyptic Love”, which is expected later this year.

Slash recently shared an update on Velvet Revolver, who have remained inactive since the 2008 departure of singer Scott Weiland.

“I think we're gonna audition a singer coming up,” Slash revealed on the red carpet at the 10th annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert at Club Nokia in Los Angeles recently. “So there's that. But I'm gonna be out on the road for the next year and a half [with my solo band] anyway, so…"

In late 2010/early 2011, Velvet Revolver recorded demos with Slipknot/Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor, but reports indicated that Slash was unable to commit to adding him to the lineup, and the project was put back on hold as the guitarist continued touring in support of his debut solo album.

Meanwhile, Slash and his solo band will be on the road this summer across North America with Aerosmith for the Let Rock Rule tour, with dates starting July 10 in Wantagh, New York.
