Sammy Hagar has revealed his plan to release an album of acoustic versions of some of his best known songs.
Hagar teamed up with Waboritas guitarist Vic Johnson for the forthcoming project, to be entitled “Light Roast”, which will be issued via his website in the near future.
“It was just me and Vic live in the studio with no overdubs,” explains Hagar. “Just two guitars, sometimes one guitar, sometimes just one voice, sometimes two voices.”
The sessions were inspired by the rehearsals for Sammy’s recent co-headlining appearance at the Acoustic-4-A-Cure benefit show, an event that saw acoustic sets by James Hetfield of Metallica, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Scott Mathews, Pat Monahan of Train, Joe Satriani, Nancy Wilson of Heart, and more.
Funds raised through ticket sales for the May 15th event at The Fillmore in San Francisco will benefit the Pediatric Cancer Program at the University Of California, San Francisco UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.
