Metallica guitarist James Hetfield is featured in a new commercial for music instrument retailer the Guitar Center.
The ad actually stems from an extended video interview that Hetfield did while in the chain’s San Francisco store earlier this year.
In a small room, Hetfield recounted tales of his first guitar, becoming a musician, rising to fame, and he played a few riffs during the session.
In the meantime, customers continued to shop in the store, having no idea it was Metallica’s frontman playing.
This Friday, May 16, Metallica will team up with the Major League Baseball’s San Francisco Giants for the 2nd annual Metallica Night at AT&T Park.
Partial proceeds from every ticket sold will benefit the Bay Area Chapter of Little Kids Rock.
At the first Metallica Night at AT&T Park in San Francisco last year, drummer Lars Ulrich threw out the ceremonial first pitch and guitarists Hetfield and Kirk Hammett performed the National Anthem as part of the festivities.
