Bruce Springsteen kicked off his performance at the free NCAA March Madness Music Festival in Dallas, Texas on Sunday with a cover of the Van Halen classic, “Jump”, and video from the show is available.
The classic tune, from Van Halen’s “1984” album, is the only number one US single in the band’s career, spending 5 weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the spring of 1984.
The basketball-themed title was the opening song of Springsteen’s set, which was streamed live online and closed out the three day event at Reunion Park in sync with the NCAA Men’s Final Four weekend.
The festival also saw performances by The Killers, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw and Fun.
Springsteen recently launched his world tour in support of his new album, “High Hopes”, with a series of shows in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
The New Jersey rocker will kick off a US tour in Cincinnati, Ohio on Tuesday, April 8.
