UPDATE: 04/10/14 10:00 PM EDT - the YouTube video clip has been pulled and is no longer available.
A short audio clip of the surviving members of Nirvana and Joan Jett rehearsing the band’s 1991 classic, "Smells Like Teen Spirit", Wednesday night at New York’s Barclays Center prior to the band’s induction into to The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame event there on Thursday has surfaced.
A reporter for Alternative Nation recorded a portion of the performance while walking the halls at the venue.
On Thursday (tonight), Jett will join Nirvana for a live performance as part of the group’s induction into the Rock Hall.
Earlier this week, the band hinted that Jett would be joining them when they posted a photo of their gear – including Jett’s easily-identifiable guitar – on the Facebook pages of both Nirvana and the Foo Fighters.
Nirvana will be inducted by R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe; other honorees include KISS, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens, Linda Ronstadt, and The E Street Band.
This past weekend marked the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s passing. The rocker died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his Seattle home on April 5, 1994; his body was discovered three days later by an electrician who had arrived to do some work on the property.
