Soundgarden will be filming an episode of DIRECTV’s Guitar Center Sessions in Austin, Texas this week during SXSW.
Guitar Center Sessions will present three consecutive evening showcases featuring Soundgarden, Snoop Dogg, Damon Albarn, Phantogram, and The 1975 on the rooftop of the Starr Building (503 Colorado St.)
Fans will have the chance to see some of the festival’s biggest acts in a unique setting, perched high above the crowds with Austin’s skyline as a backdrop.
All performances will be filmed in front of a live audience for the series’ upcoming eighth season debuting in May. These events are SXSW official showcases and badges are required for admittance.
Soundgarden are in Austin to perform their 1994 breakthrough album, “Superunknown”, in its entirety - for the first time ever - at the iTunes Festival on March 13.
The show, which will take place at ACL Live at the Moody Theater in Austin, will be streamed live via the via iTunes store, and available on all personal computers and mobile devices. Those with iOS devices or Apple TV can use the iTunes Festival app to stream the performance in HD.
The concert news comes on the heels of the band’s announcement that they will be releasing a 20th anniversary reissue of “Superunknown” on June 3rd.

Soundgarden kick off their 2014 live schedule in Lima, Peru on March 27; they’ll follow that up with dates at Lollapalooza in Chile, Argentina and Brazil.
