Rolling Stones postpone Australian and New Zealand tour
The Rolling Stones have postponed a tour of Australia and New Zealand in the wake of the passing of Mick Jagger’s longtime girlfriend, fashion designer L’Wren Scott.
“The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry and disappointed to announce the postponement of the rest of their 14 On Fire tour of Australia and New Zealand following the death of L’Wren Scott,” posted the band. “Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood wish to thank all of their fans for their support at this difficult time and hope that they will fully understand the reason for this announcement.”
“The Rolling Stones are planning to reschedule these postponed shows at a later date,” they added. “Australia/New Zealand promoters ask ticket holders to please hold on to their tickets until further notice. A new schedule of dates is presently being worked on and fans will be advised as soon as possible.”
The postponed shows are:
Mar 19 – Perth, AU – Perth Arena
Mar 22 – Adelaide, AU – Adelaide Oval – 22 March – postponed
Mar 25 – Sydney, AU – Sydney Allphones Arena
Mar 28 – Melbourne, AU – Melbourne Rod Laver Arena
Mar 30 – Hanging Rock, AU – Macedon Ranges Hanging Rock
Apr 02 – Brisbane, AU – Brisbane Entertainment Centre
Apr 05 – Auckland, NZ – Auckland Mt Smart Stadium
Scott was found dead of an apparent suicide in her New York apartment on Monday. Reports indicate that police sources said her body was discovered hanging from a scarf tied to a doorknob in her apartment on 11th Avenue at around 10 a.m.
