Ozzy Osbourne hits Baltimore brewer with cease and desist over Ozzy Ale

Representatives for Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne have sent a cease and desist letter to Baltime brewing company The Brewer’s Art over the sale of one of their house brands, Ozzy Ale.

Baltimore’s City Paper reports Ozzy Ale is one of only two Brewer’s Art beers to be packaged in cans and sold in liquor stores.

Brewer’s Art partner Tom Creegan told the City Paper via email that he was unable to discuss the matter any further at this time as negotiations are ongoing and the outcome remains uncertain.

Ozzy Ale features a logo of a clenched fist with a tattoo spelling O-Z-Z-Y across the fingers, which is identical to the one the rocker has on his left hand. The cans also features two bats, one of which is headless and dripping blood – a referance to the infamous January 1982 incident in Des Moines, Iowa when Ozzy bit the head of a bat thrown on stage by a fan, resulting in a series of rabies shots for the singer.

Ozzy and Black Sabbath resume their “13” world tour with a series of North American shows starting March 31 in New York.
