Elton John: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road 40th anniversary featured on In The Studio

The 40th anniversary of Elton John’s 1973 classic, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, is featured on this week’s edition of North American rock radio series In The Studio.

Elton and lyricist Bernie Taupin join host Redbeard to discuss the legendary double-album, which featured a string of hit single, including ”Saturday Night’s All Right For Fighting”, “Candle In The Wind”, “Bennie And The Jets” and the title track, along with the epic “Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding.”

Elton’s seventh studio album went on to sell more than 31 million copies worldwide, including 8 million in the US alone.

On March 25, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” will mark its 40th anniversary with the release of a 5-disc Super-Deluxe box set, packed with extra music, movies and more.

The box set features cover versions by contemporary artists (including Ed Sheeran, Hunter Hayes, and the Zac Brown Band), rare B-sides, the 'Live At Hammersmith 1973' concert, a DVD, and a 100-page hardback book packed with rare photos, memorabilia and more.
