Black Sabbath confirm Hyde Park show

Following days of teasing by event organizers, Black Sabbath have formally announced that they will headline the opening night of the British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park on July 4.

The band will be joined by a lineup that includes Soundgarden, Faith No More, Motorhead, Soulfly and Wolfmother, among others.

“The first time I came to London I didn’t have a pot to piss in,” says Ozzy Osbourne. “I spent the advance I got for the first album on a new pair of shoes and some Brut aftershave. Almost 50 years on, we’re doing a bit better for ourselves, so I may even splash out on some new aftershave before taking to the stage at Hyde Park. It’s the most beautiful park in London and its gates have been opened to so many legends in the past. We’re beyond honored
to be allowed to put on a show – and we hope that Royals will enjoy it.”

Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday, April 4 at 9 AM local time.

Already confirmed for the 10-day event, which runs July 4 – 13, are McBusted (July 6) and Neil Young & Crazy Horse (July 12).

Black Sabbath will resume their “13” world tour on Tuesday in New York, the first date in a series of North American shows that includes a 3-week run across Canada.
