VIDEO: David Lee Roth and Beach Boys singer perform California Girls

Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth joined Beach Boys singer Mike Love to perform the band’s classic, “California Girls”, at The Society Of Singers’ 21st ELLA Awards on Thursday in Beverly Hills, and video from the appearance has surfaced.

The event honored Love, lead singer and co-founder of The Beach Boys, as well as producer Nigel Lythgoe and backup singers The Waters Family.

Roth famously covered “California Girls” on his 1985 EP, “Crazy From The Heat.” The Van Halen singer’s version reached No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

The Society of Singers is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to maintaining and restoring the personal dignity, health, and welfare of professional vocalists across the US.

Society of Singers produces an annual fundraiser and gala event — The ELLA Award — for whom singers are awarded for their contribution to the world of music along with their dedicated efforts to benefit the community and worldwide causes.

Established in 1989, the first ELLA was awarded to Ella Fitzgerald herself.

Roth and Van Halen are actively working on a new album, according to recent comments by Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti.

Van Halen’s latest album was 2012’s “A Different Kind Of Truth.” The project debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with opening week sales of 187,000.
