Bruce Springsteen and Jimmy Fallon teamed up to perform a reworked version of “Born To Run” as a song about New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s traffic controversy on the host’s Late Night show Tuesday.
“Gov. Christie Traffic Jam” pokes fun at the current George Washington Bridge scandal, which saw representatives from Christie’s office close down lanes on the major artery into New York City – snarling traffic for four days last September – as political payback to Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich for not endorsing his re-election campaign.
Springsteen and Fallon performed the tune dressed in the iconic “Born In The USA” sleeveless vest and red bandanna look made famous by New Jersey’s most-famous son.
Springsteen’s appearance on the program was to promote yesterday’s release of his latest album, “High Hopes.”
