Original Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Bonzo Bash NAMM Jamm 2014 on Thursday in Santa Ana, California, and video from the event has surfaced.
Held at The Obervatory, the Bonzo Bash NAMM Jam is billed as “The Ultimate Celebration to the Ultimate Drummer John Henry Bonham of Led Zeppelin.”
The ninth annual event featured some of music’s top drummers performing over five hours of classic Led Zeppelin tunes with the house band, The Moby Dicks, on a Bonzo replica amber acrylic Natal drum kit.
Ward declined to participate in the Black Sabbath reunion tour and the “13” album over a contractual dispute. The group recorded with Brad Wilk of Rage Against The Machine, while Ozzy Osbourne’s solo drummer, Tommy Clufetos, has been handling live dates.
Ward has been actively promoting his groundbreaking collection of fine art created from rhythm, “Absence Of Corners.”
Like a painter using brushes, Ward is creating fine artwork utilizing sticks that light in a variety of ways. His rhythms are captured for canvas bringing forward a new dimension to what was formally just sound.
