David Bowie’s “The Next Day” was the most purchased album in the UK’s independent record shops during the last twelve months, according to the Official Charts Company.
Released in March, “The Next Day” placed No. 1 on The Official Record Store Chart Top 40 Of 2013, ahead of albums by Arctic Monkeys, Daft Punk, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and Queens Of The Stone Age.
“The Next Day” placed No. 23 on the overall Official Biggest Selling UK Albums Of 2013 Top 40.
Bowie’s first project in a decade also delivered the singer his first UK number 1 album in 20 years.
“The Next Day” recently received three Grammy Awards nominations, including “Best Rock Album” and “Best Recording Package”, while the project’s second single, “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)”, earned a nomination for “Best Rock Performance.”
The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will be held January 26, 2014 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS from 8–11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
