Black Sabbath have posted handwritten lyrics to “Dear Father” as they continue to roll out songs from their latest album, “13.”
Guitarist Tony Iommi started off 2014 with a news update on the band and on his ongoing health battle with cancer.
“We’ve some good things lined up for the coming year,” Iommi posted, “firstly the Grammys, then some dates in the US and Canada, and in the summer a quick trip round Europe.”
As for his health status, Iommi notes, “I should also be finishing my regular treatment and I’m hoping to not get so tired, all positive.”
“Many thanks to you all for your continued support, we’d be nothing without you,” he ended.
In January of 2012, Iommi shared the news with fans that he had been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphocytes, a type of cell that forms part of the immune system. The guitarist toured throughout 2013 while continuing his cancer treatments.
Black Sabbath return to live action with a series of North American dates starting March 31 in New York.
The trek includes a 3-week Canadian tour that begins April 3 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and wraps April 22 in Edmonton, Alberta; it is followed by a Los Angeles stop at the Hollywood Bowl on April 26.
