Black Sabbath classic featured in 300: Rise Of An Empire commercial

The Black Sabbath classic “War Pigs” is featured in the first TV commercial for the upcoming film, “300: Rise Of An Empire.”

In theaters March 7, “300: Rise Of An Empire” is the follow-up to the 2007 film “300”, with a storyline that takes place before, during, and after the events of the first movie.

"300: Rise Of An Empire" is based on Frank Miller's graphic novel that takes Xerxes, the Persian leader who is an antagonist in "300", and turns him into more of a pivotal figure.

Directed by Noam Murro, the film stars stars Rodrigo Santoro returning as Xerxes, Sullivan Stapleton as Themistokles, Jack O'Connell as Calisto, Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo, David Wenham as Dilios, and Eva Green as Artemisia.

“War Pigs” is the opening track on Black Sabbath’s second album, 1970’s “Paranoid.” The song was the original title for the project but was changed by the record label over fears of a backlash from supporters of the ongoing Vietnam War.

Black Sabbath kick off their 2014 live dates in support of their latest album, “13”, with a series of North American shows starting March 31 in New York.
