Queen are launching Schools Will Rock You across North America this fall.
The program helps schools stage amateur productions of the award-winning, record-breaking show We Will Rock You, with guidance and tools from the creators of the production.
Now in its 12th year in London, We Will Rock You has sold more than 15 million tickets worldwide. Schools Will Rock You has been similarly successful, as thousands of schools in the UK have staged the production since 2006. The introduction of the program in the US marks the first time schools will be able to put on the theatrical in advance of the professional production’s appearance in their respective cities.
Schools Will Rock You will provide schools with the tour script, score and production support (plus the opportunity to buy full backing tracks), giving students the chance to perform Queen anthems while learning all aspects of mounting a stage production along the way. The school productions are limited to non-professionals up to the age of 18.
“We are thrilled you are looking at 'We Will Rock You' as a school production," says Queen guitarist Brian May. "It was a blast to put the show together in the first place and we have been running for 11 years in London. We hope you will have a blast doing it for your school.”
