Carlos Santana uninjured in Las Vegas car crash

Carlos Santana was uninjured when he drove into a parked car in Las Vegas on Friday Night.

The Las Vegas Review Journal reports Santana was driving alone in the incident, which occurred as the guitarist was on his way home.

It’s not certain whether a sobriety field test was conducted but he was not driving under the influence, said police Lt. Ken Romane.

Details were slim on what exactly occurred near the Ridges, an upscale area of Summerlin. Romane did not know the make of Santana’s vehicle or the extent of damage to the parked car, which was empty.

“He hit a parked car, it was a minor accident, is all,” Romane said, adding that the event was not even “log worthy” — referring to events that are officially recorded by police.

According to his concert schedule, Santana performed at the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay on Thursday night and was to perform Saturday night, but he didn’t have a show Friday.

Last week it was announced that Santana will receive the 2013 Kennedy Center Honors this fall, alongside fellow recipients Billy Joel, Shirley MacLaine, Herbie Hancock and opera singer Martina Arroyo.

The award is an annual honor given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture.
