The 40th anniversary of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s debut album is featured on this week’s edition of In The Studio.
Released in August of 1973, “Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd” was the first offering from the Southern Rock band out of Jacksonville, FL.
Produced by legendary musician Al Kooper, the project was recorded in Georgia over a 5-week period in the spring of ’73.
The album’s 8 tracks include Skynyrd standards like “Gimme Three Steps,” “Simple Man” and “Tuesday’s Gone,” and the song that would become one of their signature tunes, “Freebird.”
Skynyrd guitarists Gary Rossington and Ed King join host Redbeard to talk about the album classic.
