It’s been three years since rock was part of the Super Bowl halftime show.
The Who played the 2010 event (see it here), marking the third year in a row that rock was center stage at the event; Bruce Springsteen performed the 2009 edition (watch it here).
In 2008, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers rocked Super Bowl 42.
The game, in Phoenix, featured the New York Giants versus the New England Patriots; the Giants won 17-14.
The broadcast broke the then-record for the most watched Super Bowl in history with an average of 97.5 million viewers in the United States. American Idol season 6 winner Jordin Sparks sung the national anthem.
