Dave Grohl has issued “From Can To Can’t” as the new single from the forthcoming soundtrack to his film, Sound City.
The tune features Slipknot/Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor on lead vocals, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen on guitar, and Kyuss’ Scott Reeder on bass.
The song follows the lead track, “Cut Me Some Slack,” with Paul McCartney and former Nirvana bandmantes Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear joining Grohl on drums.
Sound City chronicles the story of the Van Nuys, California studio of the same name, where music legends recorded major projects throughout the years – including Nirvana’s 1991 smash, “Nevermind.”
Through interviews with the artists and producers that created decades of musical history at Sound City, the film will showcase the amazing history of the studio, focus on the albums recorded there that went on to change the world, discuss the human element of music in an age of technology, and feature performances from many of the artists that called it "home".
The first album produced at Sound City was Neil Young’s 1970 release, “After The Gold Rush.”
The studio closed in the spring of 2011.
Sound City is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday; the same night, Grohl is putting on a live show featuring collection of musicians who performed on the film’s soundtrack.
