Rush were announced Tuesday as inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame’s Class of 2013.
Rush have been eligible for the Rock Hall since 1998; artists are considered for inclusion 25 years after the release of their first recording.
“We are honored to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” said the band. “The 3 of us are especially appreciative of our loyal fans whose support and dedication has gone a long way to making this possible. P.S. And special thanks to our moms for voting 6000 times!”
Rush led the fan voting for the 2013 event, as the public was allowed to participate in the process for the first time this year. Votes were taken online, and the result was a "fan's ballot" that was counted along with roughly 600 other ballots.
Joining the Canadian rock legends are Heart, Public Enemy, Donna Summer, Randy Newman and Albert King.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on April 18th, 2013 at the Nokia Theater, marking the first time the event will be held in Los Angeles since 1993.
The evening will be recorded for broadcast on HBO on May 18th.
Tickets for the 2013 induction ceremony go on sale to the public on January 25th.
