Slash had an eventful 2012, to say the least.
The guitarist began the year with a Velvet Revolver reunion in Los Angeles at a fundraiser for the family of composer and music supervisor John O'Brien, who was found dead in a Chicago hotel room in the summer of 2011.
In February, Slash issued “You’re A Lie” as the lead single for his sophomore solo album, “Apocalyptic Love,” which would follow later in the spring.
Between the new single and the album’s release was a monster of an issue: Guns N’ Roses upcoming induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland in mid-April.
A reunion of the original GNR seemed like a long shot, at best, and rumors about the band’s playing status of the Rock Hall event flew fast and furious around the globe for months leading up the ceremony.
Just days before the induction, Axl Rose dropped a bombshell, issuing a statement that not only would he not attend, but he declined the honor from the Rock Hall itself.
Axl’s move opened the door for several other GNR members to regroup and, on April 14, Slash, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler and Matt Sorum were joined by guitarist Gilby Clarke and singer Myles Kennedy on stage to perform at the Rock Hall event.
Back on the solo trail, Slash was relentless in his pursuit of media coverage for the late May launch of “Apocalyptic Love,” appearing seemingly everywhere to get the word out about his new music.
A full global touring schedule followed the album’s release through the summer and fall.
In November, Slash issued a 3-disc special enhanced version “Apocalyptic Love” that included the full 15-track version of the CD, two bonus songs, eight unreleased acoustic tracks from the group's Guitar Center Sessions, as well as the "Live From NY" concert DVD from Slash's sold-out record-release show filmed live at Irving Plaza in New York City.
Slash kicks off a 6-week European tour in February and will play the first Ozzfest Japan in Tokyo in May.
