Deep Purple have spent the past few months recording a new album with producer Bob Ezrin in Nashville.
Now, Purple fan site The Highway Star is providing an update on the project.
In a new interview with Russian news agency Itar-Tass – translated by the fan site - bassist Roger Glover reveals that 14 songs have been completed, with 11 or 12 likely to make the album.
Purple are considering an early 2013 release for the untitled project, their first studio album since 2005’s “Rapture Of The Deep.”
The band return to live action this week with a series of dates in Russia before playing European shows into December.
Deep Purple were recently named as first-time nominees considered for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame’s Class of 2013.
A group of 600 artists, music historians and members of the industry will choose 2013's 5 inductees from the 15 nominated artists; the results will be announced in mid-December.
The April 18, 2013 event is set for L.A.’s Nokia Theater, marking the first time the ceremony will be held in Los Angeles 1993.
