Green Day is making headlines this week as news surfaces that the band’s “secret” show, set for this Friday, has been canceled after the city of Burbank denied them the necessary permits due to concerns over crowd control.
Billboard reports frontman Billie Joe Armstrong tweeted about the event last week, writing, “Green day Surprise rock n roll sex party show meaning "secret show" coming soon in LA AREA. Stay tuned! Clothing optional! Dance or f off. And it's FREE. Bring your own booze. Weirdos and punishers welcomed!"
Armstrong then added, "For the upcoming green day dance party, there will be extra space. There's no such thing as too many friends. Chaos=love ;)”
Green Day have now announced "permits needed for the show were denied by the city due to crowd control issues. The anticipated turnout was well into the thousands, and after monitoring the situation, fears were the number would dramatically swell and pose serious concern for safety of concert-goers once the location was made public."
Green Day are gearing up to promote their recently-announced new trilogy, which features albums entitled ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré!.
The albums are the follow-up to 2009’s “21st Century Breakdown,” and are being overseen by the band’s long-time producer Rob Cavallo.
The discs will be issued in stages, with “¡Uno!,” set for release on September 25.
