Van Halen are heading into the fourth month of their North American tour in support of “A Different Kind Of Truth.”

The trek kicked off in Louisville, Kentucky on February 18 to rave reviews, as Van Halen performed the opening show of a tour that featured new music for the first time in almost a decade.

The 4th and 5th dates on the tour landed at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden.

Now, some video of the band’s MSG soundcheck has surfaced online, thanks to someone associated with Esquire, according to their YouTube posts.

As David Lee Roth skips the pre-show ritual in order to save his voice for the show, it’s up to the Van Halen family to perform the daily soundcheck routine, with Wolfgang often filling in on vocals for the absent Roth.

In the first clip, as the band pounds through their classic “Unchained,” viewers can hear Wolfgang handling the lead vocals in addition to his role as bassist.

The second video shows Eddie doing his solo during the band’s late afternoon rehearsal of “Mean Street.”

In addition to the two MSG clips, the same Esquire associate also posted a short video of Eddie and Wolfgang at a photo shoot for the magazine.

This week, Van Halen play shows in Tulsa, OK (Tue) and Tacoma, WA (Sat).
