SUNDAY: Steven Tyler to sing anthem at AFC Championship game

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler will perform the national anthem for Sunday's AFC Championship game at Gillette Stadium, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft announced Friday.

The Patriots host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday at 3 PM EST to determine the AFC entry into the Super Bowl in Indianapolis on February 5.

ESPN reports Tyler and Aerosmith have strong Boston ties, and according to Kraft, Tyler "has been a loyal, good Pats fan."

Kraft also noted how Fox television, who has a relationship with Tyler for their American Idol program, allowed Tyler to perform on CBS, who is broadcasting Sunday's game.

In 1999, Tyler performed the national anthem before a Patriots-Colts game at Foxboro Stadium.

American Idol will also be running its third episode of the week on Fox following the AFC game Sunday evening.
