The Van Halen News Desk is reporting sources tell them VH have recently signed with Interscope Records, and not Columbia Records as earlier rumors predicted.
They report the album is 100% done and in the can, and fans will have it in their hands early next year. The release date is set in stone and is top secret, but will be announced very soon.
Given the band’s appearance on the Grammys on February 12, hennemusic predicts the album will be released on the Tuesday either side of that date – from a pure marketing standpoint, our best guess is February 14, Valentine’s Day.
Create the hype, build the hype, tease the hype, unleash the goods, release the product.
Stay tuned.
(11/11/11) UPDATE: After further thought on the marketing involved in this launch, it occurs to me that VH may, in fact, debut the new single on the Grammys; that would be the major hook to get people to tune in - to see a song they haven't heard before. So...that's another possible angle on how this could play out.
