British MP lobbying for Jimmy Page knighthood

Sir Jimmy Page?

It could happen, if one British MP has her way.

The Daily Mail reports Tory MP Louise Mensch is lobbying for a knighthood for Led Zeppelin guitar legend Jimmy Page, who just happens to be one of her husband’s former clients.

“I’ve proposed Jimmy Page,” Louise wrote on Twitter. “Waiting to see if that finds favour with Honours Directorate. I hope so.”

Peter Mensch is a co-owner of artist management company Q Prime, who oversee the careers of acts like Metallica, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Muse.

She denied that her husband’s past role as his manager had any influence, adding: “Clearly there is nobody more worthy of a knighthood and I am glad to say I have gathered support from every major record label in the UK.”

In 2005, Page was awarded the OBE – Order Of The British Empire – in recognition of his Brazilian charity work for Task Brazil and Action For Brazil's Children's Trust, which was founded by his wife Jimena Gomez-Paratcha in 1998.
