In 1991, while on a six-month leave of absence from the group, Clark died of an overdose of a combination of alcohol and multiple prescription drugs.
Steve was gone too soon, dying at the age of 30.
In part 18 of their month-long fan Q&A series, Leppard are asked, “This [year] being the 20th Anniversary of Steve [Clark]’s death, how does his influence still effect the band?”
“It affects us all the time because we think about him every day,” begins Joe Elliott. “We play songs, live, that he co-wrote. We hear music that he played when we hear one of our songs on the radio from way back when.”
