Back in August, the title track surfaced online (hear it here), and now Tom is giving fans a listen to a second song from the project.
“Back In The Crowd” is a romantic ballad featuring the Spanish Tinge guitar work of both David Hidalgo (Los Lobos) and long time collaborator, Marc Ribot.
Crooned in his best “Jim Reeves-meets-Elvis tenor,” Waits’ describes his intimate performance “as an old fashioned jukebox tune for a slow dance with your girl (or guy).” Adding to the romance, Hidalgo beat out a Latin clave rhythm using his wedding ring on the side of his Jarana (a traditional 8 string guitar from Vera Cruz).
“Bad As Me” will be available in a deluxe version that includes three bonus tracks and a 40 page book of lyrics and photos taken by Waits himself; the project will also be available on vinyl, which will include the LP and CD, plus full-size 12-page book.
Earlier this year, Waits was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, with an intro speech by Neil Young; Tom joined the class of 2011 with Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond, Dr. John, Darlene Love and Leon Russell.
