Pearl Jam rocked Toronto Sunday evening on the first of a two-night stand, as part of the band’s 10-date Canadian tour.

The 2.5 hour, 26-song set was spread across the band’s career, as they continue their 20th Anniversary celebrations.

Things kicked off with 1995’s "Long Road,” before kicking into gear with the trio of “Do The Evolution,” “Once,” and “Got Some.”

Great pacing throughout, and fans ate it up with hearty singalongs and applause; the mutual admiration was shared by the group, as Eddie Vedder thanked the Toronto audience for making PJ feel at home. Vedder also made a comparative reference between the Canadian city and the band’s hometown of Seattle, saying both cities “had concrete erections” (CN Tower and the Space Needle, respectively), but that Toronto’s was “bigger.”

Things hit the roof during the second set of encores: they began with a real rarity, “Chloe Dancer/Crown Of Thorns,” from the pre-PJ band, Mother Love Bone, bounced into “Alive,” and then launched into hyperdrive with Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” – with an appearance by Neil himself.

When Young walked onto the stage, it was as if the ACC roof was going to give way, with the crowd bursting into thunderous ovation. Mike McCready ran side stage and handed his guitar to Neil, who came out during the extended solo section, and Neil joined the guys by bouncing around and throwing lead licks off every corner of the building. McCready ran and snagged another guitar so he could re-join the fun, and fun it was – ear-to-ear smiles from everyone in the room, including all PJ members.

Neil is in Toronto to debut his Jonathan Demme film, “Neil Young Journeys,” at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday evening. The film is a live concert piece capturing Young’s solo tour at the city’s legendary Massey Hall over two shows earlier this year.

PJ teamed with director Cameron Crowe to debut their new film, “Pearl Jam Twenty,” at the Festival on Saturday.

At press time, just a few hours after the PJ concert wrapped, only a couple of partial videos of PJ with Neil have surfaced, so far...have a look below and we’ll update to better quality footage when it surfaces.
