McKagan has lots of stories to share, and fans clearly want to soak them up: from his early punk rock days to the glory years of Guns N’ Roses to his recovery from addiction, Duff is an eloquent writer and rock n’ roll guide rolled into one.
Duff’s book hits stores October 4 and, if this reaction is any indication, he has a major hit on his hands.

Headbanger William Shatner rolls in at #2 this week with his cover of the Black Sabbath classic, “Iron Man.” The track is from Captain Kirk’s forthcoming album, “Seeking Major Tom,” and Bill had some help from former Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde on the rocking tune.
While Axl Rose remains the lone original GNR member, there remains lots of interest in the band – or, should I say, the brand. With no co-ordinated effort at all by an absent and/or dysfunctional management team, possibly ruled by Axl himself, dates for GNR first US tour in years continue to trickle out. Two more Midwestern dates have awkwardly been spread amongst fans, earning enough interest to land the news at #3 on this week’s HH10.
The first of two Foo Fighters appearances in a week on Conan drew lots of attention, and a live performance of “Walk” came in at #4.
The most compelling story of the week was #5: Ozzy Osbourne’s music was used by authorities in the San Bernardino, California area to help locate a missing 8-year autistic boy. The child had run away from his school grounds and spent the night in the nearby hills while police, fire and locals helped search for him; Joshua Robb finally responded to the familiar sounds of Ozzy’s singing and was found, thankfully, with a happy ending for all concerned and involved. The power of music can be a truly awesome thing to behold.
Other big stories of the week included three Van Halen items: an album update from last week (#6); a not-so-funny story involving VH trying to ban a comedic cover of their "1984" smash, “Jump” (#8); and, pop star Ke$ha’s raves about being inspired by David Lee Roth rounded out the popular trio (#10).
A mini-reunion of most of GNR circa 1992 helped salute Slash as this year’s Road Recovery honoree (#7), while Motley Crue guitarist Mick Mars was in the studio with James Durbin working on a track for the American Idol rocker’s debut, due in November (#9).
