It happened Wednesday in Tyler’s part-time home of Sunapee, NH.
The Union Leader reports Oprah visited the New Hampshire town to see the Aerosmith singer, causing enough fuss and attention that Sunapee police escorted Winfrey at times, according to Officer Tim Therrien.
"They went to Steve Tyler's childhood home. They walked around there for a while, and then went to his home," Therrien said. Tyler lives on Lake Avenue in a home that overlooks Lake Sunapee.
Therrien said he believes that Winfrey had a camera crew with her. She was interested in Tyler because of a recent book he wrote, mentioned the officer.
Tyler's memoir, "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?", was published this year.
Therrien said Winfrey left New Hampshire via Lebanon Airport.
As part of his American Idol gig, Tyler and the other judges appeared on Oprah’s show last spring. When the host asked Steven about his bandmates’ reaction, Tyler said, “I’ve been judged all my life. The band went on tour and we were off tour. I saw this as an opportunity to have some fun and to sit next to J-Lo here. And Randy [Jackson].”
Tyler is working with Aerosmith on the band’s first new studio album since 2004’s “Honkin’ On Bobo,” which is expected to be released next spring.
