With their headlining shows at Australia’s Soundwave Revolution this fall scuttled because the festival itself was cancelled by promoters, one of the latest rumors suggests VH have been approached by a pair of Aussie promoters to try and get some dates down under confirmed for early 2012.
Beyond live shows, anticipation also grows amongst fans for new music from Van Halen, something that hasn’t existed in 7 years, for starters.
VH’s new album will be the first with original singer David Lee Roth in 27 years, the band’s first album in 13, and their first project with Wolfgang VH on bass, replacing the ousted Michael Anthony, who was too friendly with Sammy Hagar for Eddie VH’s liking. Blood is thicker than…everything, it seems.
As for new music, the Boston Herald reports a rumor generated through distant sources that the first VH single, “Late Term,” is set for release next Tuesday, August 23.
The paper admits the rumor is based on somewhat shaky information, so it’s too early to tell if there’s anything to this but mere speculation.
Since VH themselves never provide comments on things like this, the closest confirmation/denial of anything VH-related seems to be coming through the Van Halen News Desk, who have unofficially taken on the role of VH spokespeople, for some reason.
The VHND quickly shot down the Herald’s rumors Thursday, saying:
“There is a new, widespread rumor that specifically states the release date and song title of what would be the first single from Van Halen’s upcoming album. As with nearly all rumors like this, this rumor is completely FALSE. Stay tuned to VHND.com for news you can trust…”
Let’s see what happens in the coming days…
