Slash records with Mary J. Blige

Slash continues doing pre-production work for his second solo album, expected to be released in the spring of 2012, according to the guitarist.

This week, Slash posted an update on things:

"Just finished a session with Mike Clink engineering on a track with Mary J. Blige. Sounds killer!"

No word, at this point, if the session was, in fact, done for Slash’s next record, an upcoming Blige project, or something else entirely. Slash has already said that Myles Kennedy will be handling vocals on his next disc, as opposed to the variety of singers he used on his 2010 solo debut.

Slash has been chosen as this year's Road Recovery honoree and will be front and center at their annual concert in New York on September 13; Slash will be performing with former GNR members Matt Sorum, Duff McKagan and Gilby Clarke, as well as Wayne Kramer and more, to support the charity.

Road Recovery is dedicated to helping young people battle addiction and other adversities by harnessing the influence of entertainment industry professionals who have confronted similar crises and now wish to share their experience, knowledge, and resources.
