Despite Idol viewers making such a huge mistake, the Santa Cruz kid is proud of what he brought to the competition.
“I came here [Idol] to do what I wanted to do and I stuck to it,” Durbin told Jay Leno, “and I think I did a pretty good job.”
James then sat in with The Tonight Show band for the rest of the show, rocking many of his Idol tracks, including songs by Judas Priest, Sammy Hagar, Stevie Wonder and Elton John.
