VIDEO: Elvis Costello rocks the Vancouver Canucks

The world knows how seriously Canadians take their hockey, and with the NHL playoffs in full flight, we could be seeing an off-ice battle as big as the ones on ice.

We’re talking Vancouver vs. Nashville.

We’re talking Rock vs. Country.

This past Saturday, the Vancouver Canucks hosted the Nashville Predators in Game 2 of their Western Conference Semi-Final, and Vancouver pulled out some big musical guns for their national tv broadcast.

Just prior to puck drop, Elvis Costello joined local rockers The Odds for an electrifying, high-energy version of Costello’s classic “Pump It Up,” played in a small lounge on the private-box level at Rogers Arena.

Elvis is no stranger to the city as his wife, jazz great Diana Krall, is a native of British Columbia; both were on hand for the NHL showdown.

With Game 3 set for tonight (series is tied 1-1), we’ll get a chance to see how Nashville responds with some musical icons of their own.

Predators forward Mike Fisher is married to country superstar Carrie Underwood, so there’s an even closer connection to the team than the setup in Vancouver.

Rock vs. Country. Let’s get it on!
