Frontman Michael Stipe oversaw a plan to have noted filmmakers create videos for each of the disc’s 12 tracks.
“It was my idea to bring a very 20th Century idea – album - into the 21st Century,” said Stipe, “by asking artists and filmmakers to create a film for each song on the new R.E.M. record.”
Tuesday, the band premiered a clip on YouTube for “Every Day Is Yours To Win,” directed by Jim McKay, Chris Moukarbel and Valerie Veatch.
According to McKay, the video is comprised completely of YouTube clips, so it was fitting that, as an interesting addition to the launch, Stipe and McKay posted an introduction to the video itself on YouTube, as well, where they outlined the playlist of material used in the footage.
