In a new interview with the Charlotte Observer, Slash confirmed recent rumors that Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor is/was close to getting the gig.
“There was truth to the rumor that we were looking at Corey Taylor, but then I left for tour,” said Slash. “So there's nothing being done at the moment. No decision.”
When Taylor rumors popped up last month, the singer would neither confirm nor deny that is the “known singer" who's been working under wraps with VR. "To be continued!" Taylor told Billboard with a long, hearty laugh, before declining to say anything further.
Slash talked to the Charlotte Observer about the difficulties in finding the right person for the role.
“Beggars can't be choosers,” Slash said. “The first most important thing is to find individuals who are musically capable, and then you have to take into account whatever their personality is.... It's something you need to accept within reason if they play the way you want them to play. A lot of musicians are crazy and that's what makes them great musicians.”
Slash’s solo tour is currently scheduled through mid-April, so who knows when/if Velvet Revolver can get this whole singer issue put to bed.
